Security Report October 2008

Marina Da Gama is experiencing a relatively low crime rate at present in areas which have guarding. I am pleased to report that the San Marina area, which has experienced the highest levels of criminal activity, has started a neighborhood watch involving residents patrolling their area. The Muizenberg police have also prioritized the San Marina and Moorings areas for additional patrols as part of their crime prevention drive.

A current disturbing trend has emerged over the last two weeks. We believe that some incidences of theft have occurred with access being gained from the water side. Please make sure that your water side doors and windows are locked and report any suspicious activity to the police. Please also report any missing vessel to the Marina Office and police as soon as possible. These vessels are used to perpetrate the crime usually in the area where they have been stolen.

Christmas season is upon us and many of us are planning to go away for the holidays. Here are a couple of tips before going away.
  1. Make sure your alarm is working. (Try getting a technician in during the December period)
  2. Check that the list of people and contact numbers listed with your security provider is current.
  3. Leave contact details with neighbors and inform them of your movements.
  4. Fit an energy saving light with Daylight sensor to strategic light points.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all residents a very happy and safe Christmas and New Year.
