Michael, a BSc Civil Engineering graduate from Stellenbosch, has extensive experience in water structures, residential, and industrial construction. A Marina waterways enthusiast, he aims to improve communication between the MDGA Excom and residents.

Boudje Giljam

Vice Chairman

Born in the Netherlands, I grew up in South Africa and spent 11 years in London. I’ve lived in the Marina for 35 years, with 40 years in the ICT sector. Former ExCom chair and current Park Island CID board member, I enjoy cycling, boating, music, and the outdoors, and am passionate about our community and environment.

Murray Bridgman

Legal

Murray is a retired advocate and former acting judge, joins ExCom to address unpaid subscriptions. He has deep family ties to the marina and is married with three children and four grandchildren.

Annalie Potgieter

Portfolio - Communication

Annalie is a TV Producer, Director, and Composer with 26 years’ broadcast experience. A SAFTA Award recipient and judge. She studied music at Pretoria University and UNISA. She believes in transparency, collaboration, and serving the community with a shared vision.

Demetri Qually

For 37 years, Demetri has called the Marina home. A former City councillor and dedicated ExCom member, he believes our strength lies in unity: “As we celebrate the Marina’s 50th anniversary, let’s meet our challenges through positive and constructive engagement.”

Gordon Hart

Gordon, a UCT Architecture graduate (1979), founded his practice in 1984 and still works from Kenilworth. He and his wife Michelle moved to Marina da Gama in 2019, a decision they’ve never regretted. He has served on Archcom, helping homeowners preserve property values and the environment.

James Smith

James is a former police investigator and founder of a successful steel and construction business. He lives in Marina da Gama with his wife and son and enjoys family, home projects, travel, and boating.

Lathif Gafoor

Portfolio - Waterways/ Surrounding communities

Lathif, a 30-year Marina resident and second-term ExCom member, overcame apartheid-era challenges, worked in education and business, and helped replace the ageing Kingfisher.

Financial Director and Marina da Gama resident for 3 years, enjoying Thursday evening walks and following my favourite team, Manchester United.

Colin Reeves

Originally from Durban, I’ve lived in Cape Town since 1978. I founded Combat Force in 1991 and retired in 2021, staying involved in business. My wife and I live on Park Island, where I serve as a director for the City Improvement District. I also play golf—badly!

Peter Weir

Peter Weir, born in Kimberley, is a retired Sales and Marketing Director and former athlete. Married to Brenda since 1974, he is a devoted family man, community-minded, and a committed Christian.

Alan Hepple

Born in London in 1947, I moved to South Africa at ten. I founded Magnum Credit Consultants over 35 years ago. In 1995, my son and I discovered Marina da Gama, building 16 homes and moving into Park Island Way in 1997. I have served on the Executive Committee and helped maintain the Park Island Nature Reserve.

Rudy Kindler

Rudy heads Film and Technology at an e-learning company, crafting educational stories. He enjoys surfing, trail running, and lives in Burgee Bend with his girlfriend and dog, Finn.
